Barumini

Explore Barumini: a hidden gem in Sardinia!

Step into the enchanting atmosphere of Barumini, a charming town in the province of South Sardinia, located in the picturesque sub-region of Marmilla. With a rich and fascinating history, Barumini served as the capital during the Judicate of Arborea, leaving behind an unparalleled cultural legacy.

Following the fall of the judicate in 1410, Barumini came under Aragonese rule and became a fiefdom. In 1839, with the abolition of the feudal system, the town was redeemed and became an autonomous municipality governed by a mayor and a city council.

At the heart of Barumini stands Su Nuraxi, the famous nuragic complex that is one of Sardinia’s most iconic sites. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site since 1997, this archaeological site will transport you back in time.
