Bono (SS)

Bono

At the foot of the Gocèano heights, Bono is an excellent starting point for pleasant excursions in the great woods of Monte Rasu and in the Burgos Forest.
At the center of the village is the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo which, although remodeled several times, hides a singular curiosity: the church clock is in fact moved by the weight of 4 cannonballs that fell in the village during the siege of the 1796, during which the government troops were driven out by the population.
This episode is recalled every year during a traditional festival held on August 31st, on the occasion of which the most imposing pumpkin of the Bono gardens is given as a prize to the last classified in the horse race, as an ironic recognition of the value of defeated army.
