Emanuele, once a livestock trader, expanded his agricultural pursuits in Samatzai during the late 18th century. Among his varied traditional productions were livestock, cereals, legumes, vineyards, dried fruits, oil, wine, cheeses, and cured meats.

With time, the focus shifted towards nurturing vineyards and creating exceptional wines, leading to specialization in these areas.

  • The expansive Muxurida Winery spans approximately 40 hectares and features 8 grape varieties including Semidano, Cannonau di Sardegna, Carignano, Nasco, Nuragus, Montepulciano, Sardinian Barbera, and Girò.
  • Plans are in motion to allocate 5 hectares for new plantings. The winery is dedicated to reviving nearly extinct local grape varieties – two red and four white grapes that have been attracting attention for their unique characteristics from both an ampelographic and oenological perspective.
  • The ongoing Achinas research project focuses on precisely identifying these distinct grape varieties through DNA and isoenzyme analysis.
