Berchidda
Loc. Su Cabrileddu, Berchidda (OT), SS
Discover the story of “G” like Gioacchino, a man with a deep love for the land of Berchidda in Sardinia. It was Gioacchino, along with his sons Pietrino and Pasqualino, who planted the family’s first vineyard back in 1949.
In Berchidda, viticulture is more than just a tradition; it’s part of their DNA. The passion for winemaking runs deep in this small town nestled between Monte Acuto and the Gallura sea. Quality wines like Vermentino and exquisite reds have always been produced here.
- Tradition and Innovation: Gioacchino junior brought a new perspective to the family business by combining tradition with modern technology. His motto: “Embrace the past teachings while leveraging present technologies.”
In 2000, Gioacchino Jr., Pietrino, and Pasqualino decided to replant their vineyard after careful soil analysis. They introduced new grape varieties like Carignano, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese to enrich their wine portfolio.
- The Replanting Project: A meticulous process involved selecting specific clones that yield quality grapes. The new vineyard was carefully prepared with low espalier system to ensure optimal growth conditions.
Now, a second vineyard named “Mesu e Rios” is taking shape in Berchidda. This expansion aims to solidify the Sini family’s winemaking legacy while embracing both tradition and innovation.
