The Deriu family, for several generations, continues with dedication and passion the work of Tiu Filippu, the founder of the company who planted the first vineyards over thirty years ago. All the processes, from vineyard care to winemaking, are carried out personally by family members who combine their own traditions with modern cultivation and winemaking techniques to produce exclusively high-quality wines.
The Deriu Farm is located in Codrongianos, a village in Sassari province with around 1300 inhabitants, perched at 317 meters above sea level on the hills of Logudoro. Its recognition is attributed to the nearby Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Saccargia, built in 1116 by Camaldolese monks, attracting numerous tourists throughout the year. The Basilica is one of the most admirable examples of Romanesque-Pisan architecture in Sardinia and is a source of pride for Codrongianos residents due to its historical and religious significance.
The vineyards in Codrongianos, known for their viticultural tradition, cover about 6 hectares of limestone marl soils on half-hill slopes. The traditional grape varieties grown here include Cannonau, Vermentino, and Moscato. Recently, an international grape variety like Cabernet Sauvignon has been planted with promising quality results. The vineyards have been partially renewed within the last 4 or 5 years using guyot training for Moscato and Vermentino vines and spur-pruning for red varieties.
