- The town of Calasetta derives its name from Cala di Seta, a cove where the largest bivalve mollusk, Pinna Nobilis, was bred to obtain Byssus, also known as sea silk.

- It has a light straw color with greenish reflections and an intense aroma with primary and secondary notes. The taste is fresh, slightly acidic, savory, soft, and persistent, with a characteristic hint of bitterness in the finish.
