Wine: Muttos | Isola dei Nuraghi I.G.T.
Cellar: Cantina il Grappolo d’Oro
Muttos is a red wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT), Isola dei Nuraghi, made from Cagnulari grapes. The wine boasts a deep ruby red color with strong violet reflections. On the nose, it reveals an intense and persistent bouquet, with notes of small red fruits, particularly the distinctive blackberry of the variety. A subtle spiciness balances the harmony of this wine. It is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15-18 °C.
The name Muttos pays tribute to one of the most popular and expressive songs of the ancient and noble Sardinian tradition.
Production Process Summary
The harvest of our historic Cagnulari vineyard, about 15 years old and cultivated in alberello style, began in the first week of October 2012, in the Sos Laccheddos area of Usini. After daily monitoring of sugar levels, the grapes were handpicked, carefully selecting the clusters, and transported to the winery. There, they were destemmed and placed in small open tanks, where fermentation began under controlled temperature. Three manual pump-overs were carried out daily to keep the must in contact with the grapes, preventing the formation of mold or bacteria.
After 15 days, the must was transferred to cement vats with a vitrified interior, where it completed fermentation at a controlled temperature and began aging for about six months, with only three rackings during this time. The wine then spent approximately four months in oak barrels to enhance its qualities before being bottled and labeled.
