Wine: Invidia Gallura | Vermentino di Gallura DOCG
Cellar: Consorzio San Michele
Invidia Vermentino di Gallura DOGC: A delightful white wine made exclusively from Vermentino grapes grown in the vineyards located in San Michele, Berchidda (Olbia – Tempio) in Sardinia. This wine was first produced in 2013.
Vineyard and Terroir:
- The grapes thrive in Guyot-trained vineyards with sandy soil derived from decomposing granite, creating a perfect terroir.
- The Mediterranean climate of the region, characterized by spring and autumn rains, hot summers, and cool breezes with significant temperature fluctuations, further enhances the quality of the grapes.
- The grapes are handpicked at optimal ripeness to preserve their integrity.
Winemaking Process:
- Cold maceration of destemmed grapes for 12/24 hours.
- Gentle pressing and static clarification of the must.
- Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (13-15°C) for 10/15 days.
- Aging on lees for 7/8 months followed by additional bottle aging for 2 months.
Tasting Notes:
- Visual: Straw yellow color with greenish hues.
- Aroma: Complex notes of orange blossoms, Mediterranean herbs, pineapple, and grapefruit.
- Taste: Moderately structured with a slight softness that complements the floral sensations. Salty and fresh, balanced and elegant. Pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
Food Pairing: Invidia Gallura pairs wonderfully with seafood, medium-aged cheeses, sweet pecorino cheese, and flavorful yet delicate cured meats. It also serves as an excellent aperitif. Serve chilled at 8-10°C for optimal enjoyment.
