Discover the Essence of Vermentino Wine from Olianas

The Vermentino from Olianas is a white wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin, Vermentino di Sardegna, crafted from Vermentino grapes.

  • The grapes are sourced from the Murvonis vineyard, which consists of deep and fertile soils with a clayey texture. These unique terroirs lend the wine freshness and elegance.
  • Another portion of the grapes comes from the Porruddu vineyard, characterized by dark brown soils with a sandy marl conglomerate texture. These grapes contribute complexity and structure to the wine.

With 7 hectares planted in 2007 at a density of 5600 plants per hectare, the vineyard is Guyot-trained with a yield of 1.5 kg of grapes per vine.

The harvest is meticulously done by hand in the first ten days of September.

Around 20% of the grapes are harvested slightly earlier and undergo fermentation with maceration on the skins, partly in steel and partly (10%) in amphora, following the BIOINTEGRALE method without added selected yeasts. This small batch acts as a “pied de cuve” to kickstart spontaneous fermentation. The remaining grapes are destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented in steel at 14-16°C.

Seventy percent of the aging takes place in steel ‘sur lie,’ while thirty percent is aged in Tonneaux for 5-6 months. The wine is then blended and clarified using only Bentonite before undergoing light filtration with minimal sulfites added prior to bottling.

This exquisite wine presents intense notes of pink grapefruit and lemon intertwined with hints of spices and bread crust. On the palate, it is refreshing, fairly round, culminating in a delightful finish.

Perfect as an aperitif, this wine pairs wonderfully with aromatic seafood dishes and moderately-aged cheeses.

Serve chilled at a temperature between 6-8°C for an optimal tasting experience.
