Oltremare Wine: A Taste of Sardinia
Indulge in the rich flavors of Oltremare, a red IGT Colli del Limbara wine crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Carignano, and Muristellu grapes.
The grapes used to make Oltremare are nurtured in vineyards nestled in the Monte Acuto region in Berchidda, Olbia-Tempio province, Sardinia. These vineyards thrive on granitic decomposing soils and are cultivated using Guyot and modified alberello methods, yielding 1300 for 5000 square meters.
The harvest of Oltremare is a labor of love, handpicked from early September to mid-October. The grapes are then gently pressed and left to ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After about 16 days, the wine undergoes gentle pressing and is aged with its lees for 18 months in fine-grained Allier oak barrels with medium toasting from the first passage. Barrel stirring is repeated to encourage malolactic fermentation. The wine rests at a controlled temperature for an additional six months in bottles before being released to the market.
Oltremare IGT Colli del Limbara showcases a garnet color with violet reflections. On the nose, expect aromas of blackberry jam, small red berries, undergrowth, and hints of mint.
On the palate, Oltremare is round and well-structured.
- Pairs perfectly with grilled red meat, wild boar, goat dishes, spicy foods,
- and semi-mature cheeses.
Serve this exquisite wine at a temperature between 14-18 °C for optimal enjoyment.
