Explore Dualchi, a charming town nestled in the province of Nuoro, in the picturesque subregion of Marghine. With a population of 614 inhabitants, this quaint village stands at 321 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views in the Abbasanta plateau.
Dualchi boasts an ancient history that dates back to the Nuragic era, evidenced by the presence of imposing nuraghi in the area. During the Middle Ages, it was part of the Giudicato of Torres and the curatoria of Marghine, before falling under the influence of the judges of Arborea in the 14th century.
During the war of 1478 between Leonardo Alagon, Marquis of Oristano, and the Viceroy of Aragon, Dualchi’s inhabitants showed loyalty to the Marquis by bravely fighting against the Aragonese. Despite their defeat, the town fell under Aragonese rule becoming a fiefdom and later integrated into the Marquisate of Marghine in the 18th century.
The predominant language in Dualchi is Central Logudorese or common Logudorese dialect, further enriching the local culture.
