- Magomadas (also known as Magumàdas in Sardinian) is a charming Italian village located in the province of Oristano, in Sardinia. With only 667 inhabitants, this enchanting place is nestled in the picturesque region of Planargia.
- The origins of Magomadas date back to the pre-Nuragic and Nuragic era, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds in the area, including a sacred well and an ancient Nuraghe.
- During the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Judicate of Torres and was part of the curatorship of Planargia. After the fall of the judicate in 1259, it came under the rule of Malaspina and later in 1308 became part of the Judicate of Arborea.
- Around 1420, Magomadas became part of Aragonese possessions and became a fiefdom. In 1464, it was granted to the Villamarina family and later, in the 18th century, it was incorporated by the Savoy into the marquisate of Planargia, a fiefdom of Paliaccio.
- With the abolition of the feudal system in 1839, Magomadas was redeemed from its last feudal lords. Following Regional Law No. 10 of October 13, 2003, which redefined Sardinian provincial districts, the municipality moved from Nuoro Province to Oristano Province.
- In the variant of Sardinian spoken in Magomadas, one can observe influences from central or common Logudorese.
