Quartucciu, known as the “Upper Quarter,” is one of the historic settlements that formed part of Quartu Sant’Elena during the Aragonese period.
Standing proudly in Quartucciu’s main square is the parish church dedicated to Our Lady of Defense (Sa Defensa). This architectural gem showcases late Gothic elements dating back to the 15th century. Despite its central location in the town’s historic heart, the square has never taken on the characteristics of a true urban center.
