Discover the charm of Serramanna, an enchanting rural village nestled near the convergence of Flumini Mannu and Rio Leni basins. The town has thrived since the 1900s, thanks to extensive reclamation projects that fostered diverse and productive agriculture, along with the growth of various industrial initiatives.
One of the most captivating structures in town is the Church of St. Leonardo, showcasing traditional Campidanese brick houses on its main street’s rear side. Built in two distinct phases, this church blends Gothic-Catalan, Aragonese, and late Baroque elements. The nave and bell tower date back to the 15th-16th centuries, while the dome and apse were added in the 17th-18th centuries.
The area’s history traces back to ancient times, with settlements dating from the Ozieri Culture to Monte Claro era. Evidence of this rich past includes the discovery of Cuccuru Ambudu village ruins.
Of significant historical importance is the Perda Fitta menhir, a massive granite stone representing the Mother Goddess found in the eponymous area, adding a mystical touch to Serramanna’s heritage.
