The Project: Our goal is to showcase the distinctive character of Sardinia’s typical grape varieties by carefully selecting grapes from ancient vineyards. We aim to revive traditional winemaking practices by fermenting in precious oak barrels through the maceration process, preserving intense flavors that reflect each specific “terroir.”
Who We Are: Believed to be the likely and perhaps the most remote origin of the word wine. In ancient Sanskrit, the verb vena-venas meant love (the same root as Venus), but also pleasure and conviviality. It represents the ultimate synthesis of the greatest desires that have always accompanied civilization: the pursuit of happiness. Venas is a small reality but a great opportunity for four friends to share one of their greatest passions: wine.
The Team: Four partners actively involved in every stage of wine production until commercialization. Each with their own skills and personal and professional experiences. This is Venas. Venas values the originality of its productions above all else. In addition to meticulous attention to quality, Venas seeks maximum authenticity for its wines, ensuring a clear departure from uniformity in styles and tastes.
Our Philosophy: An anarchic attitude? Perhaps; but only in this way can we return to our origins. We wanted to create a craft wine, “as it used to be made,” following natural rhythms dictated by nature. That’s why we decided to bottle without filtering or clarifying, preserving the vineyard’s character, grape, and terroir completely. The wines, currently a white and a red, thus take on great personality and a distinct identity.
