Discover the rich history of Perda Rubia, a renowned vineyard founded in 1949 by the visionary Mario Mereu. Mario, a pioneer in Sardinia, recognized the potential of the traditional Cannonau grape cultivated in Ogliastra since ancient times. The exceptional Perda Rubia wine, crafted in the historic Cardedu cellar using estate-grown and locally sourced grapes, quickly gained worldwide acclaim beyond the island.
Continuing his family’s legacy, Renato Mereu expanded the vineyards in 1971 and introduced innovative techniques that have become synonymous with the brand. Today, Perda Rubia meticulously produces “in purity” wines from Cannonau grapes rooted in their original soil, setting it apart as a truly unique option.
In 2014, the third generation of the Mereu family took charge, launching the new Naniha label to introduce pure Cannonau to global markets while preserving traditional methods passed down over seventy years of operation.
