Oleificio Cooperativo di Sassari
Sassari
, SS
The establishment of Oleificio Cooperativo di Sassari dates back to 1963 when Cav. Pilo Spada, together with eight other olive growers, founded the company.
With a current membership of 119 individuals, 70% of whom are residents in the Municipality of Sassari and neighboring areas like Sorso, Sennori, Uri, Usini, and Ittiri. The company processes an average of 15,000 quintals of olives annually, yielding approximately 3,000 quintals of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. The primary source of this oil is the renowned “Bosana” cultivar.
Situated on hills at an elevation ranging from 150 to 200 meters above sea level and located just 20 km away from the coast, the olive groves contribute to the distinct fruity notes found in their extra virgin olive oil. The company’s premises span over 5,000 square meters, including a covered area of 750 square meters on Via Predda Niedda – one of the city’s prominent entry points.
The recently expanded olive mill boasts a state-of-the-art “Pieralisi” processing plant for oil extraction featuring granite mills capable of processing up to 25 quintals per hour. Additionally, it houses a bottling facility, modern office spaces, and an onsite shop catering to both tourists and loyal customers. Among its product offerings are renowned brands such as “Colline Sassaresi,” “Assolisa,” and “Cala d’Oliva.”
