Wine: Liquore di Carruba | Liquore di Carruba
Cellar: Liquoreria Collu
The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) made its way to Sardinia from the Near East thanks to the Spanish and Arabs. Its seeds were once used as a measurement unit for metals and precious items. Once a prized resource throughout the Mediterranean, carob (the “black gold of Cyprus”) is now one of the “forgotten fruits” rediscovered by Liquoreria Collu. Its liquor, besides being very tasty, is an excellent natural internal disinfectant. It serves as a pleasant digestive after meals, but is also great chilled as an aperitif.
