Wine: Nugoresu | Isola dei Nuraghi I.G.T.
Cellar: Cantina Mario Barracciu
Nugoresu is a red wine with a Typical Geographic Indication, from Isola dei Nuraghi, made from Cannonau, Merlot, and Montepulciano grapes.
The Cannonau grape is one of the oldest in the Mediterranean basin, making up 60% of Nugoresu to uphold the tradition and territoriality of central Sardinia. Alongside it in the blend are the Merlot and Montepulciano grapes, known for their quality and elegance.
- Merlot: This black grape variety gets its name from the blackbird’s fondness for its berries. Its purity results in a wine described as easy to drink due to its softness, essential to balance the tannic strength of Cannonau and Montepulciano.
- Montepulciano: One of central Italy’s most important grapes, known for its global expressions of power, elegance, and a wide range of olfactory nuances. Wines based on Montepulciano are characterized by dense yet soft tannins, hints of cherry and sour cherry, and a full finish supported by considerable extractive and alcoholic strength.
