Pariglia | Vermentino di Sardegna D.O.C.

Pariglia: A white wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin obtained from Vermentino grapes. This wine has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections, an intense and slightly fruity aroma, and a fresh, savory, delicate, and fine taste. It pairs perfectly with appetizers and fish dishes or simply as an aperitif. Serve at a temperature of 8-10°C.

The Attilio Contini Winery, with its rich experience and brilliant insights that led to many significant successes, has decided to introduce a new line of wines for its 111th anniversary. These wines are named Sartiglia, Pariglia, Componidori, featuring Cannonau, Vermentino, Vernaccia varieties respectively. By associating these names with their prestigious brand, the Contini Winery aims to connect with the famous and original equestrian tournament that takes place in Oristano every year for over five centuries.

  • Sartiglia: Represents the race to the star
  • Pariglia: Symbolizes the knights’ skillful displays dominated by the Capo Corsa
  • Componidori: Manages the ancient ritual

The choice to name the new Vernaccia “Componidori” was obvious since it has always been recognized as the wine of Sartiglia. During the days leading up to the famous Oristanese Race, wine experts have gathered to study viticulture related to this grape variety over time. Vernaccia plays a crucial role in key moments of the equestrian event where it symbolizes good luck and accompanies emotional vesting ceremonies.

Vernaccia replaces all other traditional wines during Sartiglia’s two-day event. Its unique and intoxicating aroma pervades every moment surrounding the equestrian joust.

Sartiglia, Pariglia, Componidori – three distinct things for three distinct types of wine yet tied together by a common thread. Saying Sartiglia means Oristano and tradition; likewise, mentioning Contini evokes territory and tradition. The wines from Attilio Contini Winery showcase excellence from Oristano on a global stage just as Sartiglia promotes Oristano overseas – introducing an entire region waiting to be discovered and appreciated.

This winning combination is born from passionate research and respect for tradition while staying current – fundamental principles at Attilio Contini Winery. In our region, tradition intertwines with history reshaping it constantly as evidenced by recent discoveries between Oristano and Cabras unearthing a winemaking laboratory dating back to the ancient Nuragic period.
