Wine: Tribale | Isola dei Nuraghi I.G.T.
Cellar: Cantina Mario Barracciu
Experience the essence of wine with Tribal red wine, a blend of two grape varieties – Cannonau and Bovale. Let’s delve into the unique characteristics of these grapes:
- Cannonau: An indigenous red grape variety widely found in Sardinia. It produces a ruby-red wine with a dry taste and a hint of bitter almond. The grapes are juicy with thick skin, giving the wine its distinctive flavor.
- Bovale Sardo: Another native red grape variety from Sardinia known for its small clusters and high sugar content. When correctly vinified, it yields a complex and serious wine that may not be easy to comprehend at first.
Tribal Harvest and Winemaking:
The harvest takes place in early October following careful analysis of maturation curves. The grapes are handpicked, destemmed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks to extract the essence of the wine.
After the primary fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to enhance its smoothness and roundness. It is then aged in oak barrels for 8-9 months before being bottled and further matured for 5 months.
Tribal Wine Tasting Notes:
Prior to serving, uncork the bottle half an hour earlier at a temperature between 18-20°C. Pour into a wide glass or decanter to allow proper aeration.
Bouquet: Initially, you’ll notice hints of spices like black pepper, tobacco, and dried fruits once the alcohol evaporates.
Taste: The wine offers a bold and persistent taste with noticeable tannins balanced by a touch of sweetness, giving it a velvety texture. Over time, harmless tartrate crystals may form in the unfiltered wine.
