Wine: Urulu | Cannonau di Sardegna D.O.C.
Cellar: Cantine di Orgosolo
Urulu is a red wine with Controlled Designation of Origin obtained from 95% Cannonau grapes and 5% other red berry grapes.
The grapes come from the valleys of Locoe and Sorasi and the high lands of “Sa Lacana”, in Orgosolo’s territory. The small vineyards, nestled on gentle hills, are cultivated directly by members and, thanks to the healthy environment, require limited pesticide interventions allowing meticulous control of plants. The cultivation, either bush-trained or spur-pruned cordons, is quality-oriented.
The hand-picked grapes are immediately taken to the winery after harvest where they undergo maceration for 10-15 days at controlled temperatures post destemming with pump-overs and punch-downs. Aging for about 12 months occurs in second and third passage oak barrels followed by a 3-month bottle rest before sale.
A red wine with ruby-purple color, fruity aroma hinting berries and aromatic herbs with spicy licorice notes. It’s warm and harmonious on the palate with great structure featuring soft and elegant tannins.
